The Palaeontological Society of India instituted Prof. M. R. Sahni Gold Medal in 1984 in memory of its Founder President. The Gold Medal is given to the Post-Graduate student of the Department of Geology, University of Lucknow. After the declaration of the final results of the Post Graduation course, the Head ofthe Department of Geology recommends the name of the student securing the highest marks in the subject of Palaeontology to the Registrar, University of Lucknow. This Medal is conferred on the student every year in the University of Lucknow convocation ceremony.
